Telugu Christians hail Andhra govt for seeking to include Dalit Christians in SC category

Andhra Pradesh Federation of Churches (APFC) and the Federation of Telugu Churches (FTC) has thanked chief minister Chandrababu Naidu for an Assembly resolution seeking the inclusion of Dalit Christians in Scheduled Caste category, saying, "We appreciate your consistent stand on this issue forthrightly stressing the need to treat the Dalit Christians on par with Dalits who had adopted Sikhism and Buddhism as they too continue to suffer discrimination and deprivation."
In a letter to Naidu, they said, "We are sure that your will convince other political parties that are in alliance with you in the United Front at the national level on this matter and pursue it with the Centre even after the forthcoming general elections."
The resolution was passed in the Andhra Assembly on February 6, 2019 for including the Dalit Christians in the Scheduled Caste category. It was passed unanimously. The resolution has been sent to the President and the Prime Minister of India, asking the Union Government to fulfil the demand of giving SC status to the Dalit Christians.
